Questions about Counseling

  • Counselling is time you set aside to be explore your most confusing thoughts and intense emotions with a professional in a safe environment. Will it solve your issues? not necessarily. Will you gain tools and insight to navigate life in a richer and meaningful way? Definitely.

  • The first couple of sessions revolves around getting to know you, your background and goals. (You’ll probably want to know if the counsellor is suitable for you as well.) In each subsequent session, we will discuss the progress of your mental health, give you the outlet your need for all the bottled up thoughts and emotions, provide you with the tools you need to grow from your experiences.

  • Some people benefit from short-term, focused therapy, while others may choose longer-term support. Unfortunately, there is no straight answer. Howver, it's a collaborative process, and the therapist will work with you to determine the most effective and appropriate length of treatment.

  • It's normal to feel hesitant or uncomfortable discussing certain topics. Therapists are trained to create a safe and non-judgmental space. They will respect your pace and work with you to explore issues at a level you're comfortable with.

  • Confidentiality is a fundamental aspect of counselling. Therapists are bound by ethical and legal standards to protect your privacy. Information shared in sessions is generally kept confidential unless there's a risk of harm to yourself or others.
