Individual Counselling
You don't have to face life's challenges alone.
Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or simply looking for a safe space to talk, individual counselling provides the opportunity to slow down, make sense of what you're experiencing, and work towards meaningful change.
At HANSELCOUNSEL, we believe counselling isn't just about managing problems—it's about helping you build a life that feels healthier, more fulfilling, and more aligned with who you are.
What is Individual Counselling?
Individual counselling is a one-on-one conversation with a qualified counsellor in a confidential and supportive environment. Together, we'll explore your thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and experiences to better understand what's happening and identify practical ways to move forward.
Every session is tailored to your unique goals and circumstances.

What to Expect
Many people feel nervous before their first counselling session.
That's completely normal.
During your first session, we'll spend time getting to know you, understanding what's brought you to counselling, and discussing what you'd like to achieve.
There is no pressure to share everything at once. We'll work together at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Our Approach
Every person is different.
Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, we tailor counselling to your goals, strengths, and circumstances.
Our counsellors draw from evidence-informed approaches such as:
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Solution-Focused Therapy
Person-Centred Therapy
Strengths-Based Practice
Mindfulness-informed approaches
Why Choose Telehealth Counselling?
Telehealth counselling allows you to receive professional support from wherever you feel most comfortable, whether that's at home, during a work break, or while travelling.
For many people, telehealth offers the same supportive therapeutic relationship as in-person counselling, with the added convenience of meeting online.
Benefits
✔ Attend from anywhere: No travel time, parking, or commuting. Simply join your session from a private location.
✔ Greater flexibility: Telehealth can fit more easily around work, study, parenting, and other commitments.
✔ Comfort of your own space: Many clients find it easier to open up when they're in a familiar environment.
✔ Accessible support: Ideal if you live in a rural or regional area, have mobility challenges, or simply prefer online appointments.
✔ Secure and confidential: Sessions are conducted through a secure telehealth platform designed to protect your privacy.
Things to Consider
While telehealth works well for many people, it's important to consider that:
You'll need a reliable internet connection and a device with a camera and microphone.
Choosing a quiet, private location helps create a safe and confidential space for your session.
Occasionally, technical issues may interrupt the session. If this happens, we'll reconnect as quickly as possible or make alternative arrangements.
Some people prefer meeting face-to-face, particularly if they find it easier to connect in person.

Individual counselling sessions are approximately 60 minutes.

Everyone's journey is different. Some people benefit from just a few sessions, while others choose ongoing support over a longer period. We'll regularly review your goals together.
-
Yes. Everything discussed remains confidential except where disclosure is required by law or where there is a serious risk of harm.
-
That's perfectly okay. Many of our clients are attending counselling for the first time. Your counsellor will guide you through the process and answer any questions you have along the way.
-
Many people come to counselling unsure of where to begin. Your counsellor will guide the conversation with thoughtful questions and help you explore what's been happening at a pace that feels comfortable. You don't need to prepare a script or have everything figured out before your session.
-
Counselling isn't only for people experiencing a diagnosed mental health condition. Many people seek counselling to navigate everyday challenges such as stress, relationship difficulties, career uncertainty, life transitions, grief, or simply to better understand themselves. You don't have to wait until things feel overwhelming to seek support.
-
Rather than giving advice or making decisions for you, your counsellor will work alongside you to better understand your situation, explore different perspectives, and help you develop the insight and skills to make decisions that feel right for you. Our goal is to empower you, not tell you how to live your life.
